For many, the defining attraction of cottage life is the solitude that rural distances and intervening undergrowth provide.  Conversely, this very remoteness can turn your time off into a extremely stressful ordeal when something goes wrong and no experts are available to turn to, or at best will only appear at prohibitive cost.
